World Language Teacher POSITION POSTED: 2/6/2024 FULL-TIME POSITION HOURS: 40+ DEADLINE TO APPLY One City Schools believes in identifying and hiring the best possible candidates to serve our scholars, families and school community. The position will remain open until we find our best fit Assistant Principal. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES World Language Instructor: Create and develop a school-wide vision for Spanish language acquisition. Develop and deliver engaging world language curriculum for elementary and middle school students. Plan, prepare and deliver lessons. create teaching materials. help pupils improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in individual and group sessions. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages language acquisition and cultural appreciation. Assess students' language skills, track progress, and provide regular feedback to students and parents. Collaborate with other teachers to integrate language instruction into cross-curricular activities. EL Coordinator: Compliance with Federal and State Regulations: Ensure that the district complies with all federal and state regulations related to the education of English Learners, including Title III requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Identification and Assessment: Oversee the identification and assessment of English Learners within the district. Coordinate and administer language proficiency assessments to determine eligibility and placement of EL students. Program Development and Implementation: Collaborate with district administrators and educators to develop and implement effective EL programs and services. Provide guidance and support to teachers in delivering language instruction and accommodations for EL students. Professional Development: Plan and provide professional development opportunities for teachers and staff to enhance their understanding of EL needs, cultural sensitivity, and effective instructional strategies. Stay informed about best practices in EL education and language acquisition. Data Collection and Reporting: Collect and maintain accurate data on EL students' progress, including language proficiency levels, academic achievement, and graduation rates. Prepare and submit required reports to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as per state and federal mandates. Parent and Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with EL students' families, providing information about program services, progress, and resources. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to support EL students and their families. Resource Allocation: Work with district administrators to allocate resources effectively to meet the needs of EL students, including instructional materials, technology, and staffing. Advocacy: Advocate for the needs of EL students at the district and state levels. Participate in meetings, committees, and policy discussions related to EL education. Cultural Competency: Promote cultural competency and sensitivity among district staff and students to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Evaluation and Improvement: Regularly assess the effectiveness of EL programs and services and make recommendations for improvements. Ensure that EL students have access to a challenging and equitable education. Legal Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes in federal and state laws and regulations related to EL education, and ensure the district's compliance. Collaboration: Collaborate with other educational departments and stakeholders to promote a holistic approach to student success. ROLE SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Wisconsin Teaching License for Spanish (1365) Wisconsin EL Licence (395) Experience in world language instruction at the elementary and middle school levels. Knowledge of EL instructional strategies and best practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Proficiency in the target language: Spanish BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of One City. Commitment to working with children from diverse racial/cultural populations and their families, experience preferred. Ability to regularly and routinely lift and push at least 50 pounds. Completion of a background check required.
