We are seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator.This position will provide Information Technology support for assigned departments. Will also provide direct support to Krieger's Senior System Engineer overseeing the school's computational/research computing infrastructure, including physical and virtual Linux servers and clusters.Specific Duties & Responsibilities45% -- Install, Configure, Maintain, & TroubleshootManage, monitor, administer, and support servers, workstations, printers and mobile devices for supported department.Maintain supported department's organizational units users and groups using Active Directory.Participate with Krieger's Senior System Engineer and others as team for the school's computational systems environment.Independently provide support to colleagues and customers in the area of hardware, software, image deployment, multimedia, computational and enterprise systems.Exercise sound independent judgment when problem solving.Work with Enterprise IT to resolve customer issues.20% -- Analysis & DesignEvaluate, research, recommend, and implement technology improvements in the network, server, workstation, IT management systems, and multimedia environments.Design, create, and maintain technical documentation for colleagues and customers.Plan, design and implement custom solutions for various computing environments.Analyze user needs and develop recommendations for products and services that will meet the technical and functional requirements.Research and evaluate new technologies in eff orts to reduce cost, increase performance, improve security and enhance managing and reporting.25% -- Project CollaborationAssist with development and maintenance of information technology knowledge base.Work with LAN Administrators, Systems Administrators and Systems Engineers on various IT projects within KSAS and across the institution.Work to continuously improve school's IT infrastructure.Work with Sr. Systems Engineer when assigned new school wide projects.Assist with development and maintenance of information technology knowledge base.10% -- Relationship ManagementMaintain professional relationships with colleagues and customers across Hopkins' institutions.Provide training for colleagues and customers on enterprise systems.Frequently communicate with customers to ensure they are updated with the latest status and information available.Demonstrate excellent customer service.Special Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMust have in depth knowledge of the technologies used in the school, with special emphasis on Linux systems support, including multiple Linux distributions, Windows and Mac operating systems, application software, and hardware, and the interface between client workstations and servers.In depth knowledge and experience with client management tools, including Microsoft Systems Center Suite, MS Deployment Toolkit, and JAMF Suite for Macs.Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration, including familiarity with cluster configurations.Strong knowledge of Active Directory for user management, authentication, and authorization.Strong critical and analytical skills.Ability to work on multiple priorities effectively.Ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion.Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree.Three years related experience.Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Classified Title: Sr. Systems AdministratorRole/Level/Range: ATP/04/PDStarting Salary Range: Min $62,300 - Max $109,000 Annually (Commensurate with experience)Employee group: Full TimeSchedule: M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.Exempt Status:ExemptLocation:Hybrid/Homewood CampusDepartment name: Dean Office ofPersonnel area: School of Arts & SciencesTotal RewardsThe referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting.
