Visiting Assistant Professor Department of Chemistry School of Natural Sciences St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Chemistry, beginning August, 2023. St. Edward's is characterized by its commitment to the Holy Cross educational mission to educate the hearts and minds of a diverse student body that is deeply committed to social justice. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses to both majors and nonmajors. Candidates are expected to participate in school and department service activities with the opportunity to conduct research involving undergraduates. This is a nine-month temporary position. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to supporting a diverse student body. For consideration, candidates must have a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching. Essential Responsibilities Include: Candidates should have the interest and ability or potential to teach a range of undergraduate courses and support a diverse student body. Other essential responsibilities include: Teaching four courses per semester according to departmental needs. Teaching introductory courses in chemistry, to both majors and non-majors. Participating in other school and department service activities, where applicable. Opportunities to teach upper division courses according to the candidate's expertise.
