VICTIMS ASSISTANCE CASE MANAGER Salary: $ 28,620.00 REPORTS TO: Administrator Support & Special Programs SUPERVISES: N/A MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Must have an associate's degree in a related field. Licenses, Certificates, and Experience Must be over twenty-one (21) years of age Current Texas Driver's License and must have an automobile with current automobile insurance; Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, and understanding) in English; knowledge of Spanish is preferred; Able to submit to a drug urinalysis pre-screening exam and pass a criminal background check. If the candidate for employment does have a criminal record, it must be cleared through the requirements as set forth by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department; Must be bondable TYPICAL DUTIES Must be able to type 50 wpm Able to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with fellow employees, law enforcement agencies, District Attorney's, School District's, Defense Attorneys, vendors, Texas Juvenile Justice Department, and general public must be able to work under pressure Adhere, maintain, and comply with professional conduct and ethical behavior consistent with the standards and policies and procedures expected by the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), TJJD, Cameron County, and Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department (CCJJD) at all time, both on duty and off duty. Victim Case Manager will ensure that all victims are attending counseling sessions with the service provider Victim Case Manager will be the liaison person between the department and the service provider Victim Case manager will review monthly progress reports and documents progress made on a monthly basis Must keep documentation of all services provided in order to have the statistical information for grant reports Must provide monthly data and quarterly data regarding victims services paid by grant Will work closely with the departments Victims Coordinator in order to coordinate services for the victim immediately Will attend court proceedings when needed in order to obtain victims information Attend training in order to have up to date information regarding victim's rights and resources available. Victim Case Manager will provide transportation to and from counseling sessions when needed Victim Case Manager will track all counseling sessions and follow up with meetings to ensure the needs and interests of the victims are being addressed In the event that a juvenile makes an outcry of sexual abuse/assault while in a pre/post facility the Victim Case Manger will assist with the transport to ensure that the victim receives the services needed in order to cope with the trauma. (PREA Team) Will train department staff to keep them up to date on victims' rights and empathy Will do community outreach to the community by participating in local victim's expos, etc. Provides for disbursement of information from the Attorney General's Office Must be able to makes assessments in relation to child's attitude and needs for additional follow-up services. Must comply by the TJPC standards and Code of Ethics Must coordinate appointments with program therapist and families to ensure attendance of counseling sessions as directed by therapist Prepares related records and reports and performs related work as required Responsible for keeping all program records for reporting purposes maintain them on daily basis; always subject to announced review Maintain records on all cases which are active in the program and assist in the preparation of performance measures as requested by the state. Adhere and comply with all PREA standards and will follow zero tolerance towards all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment while conducting business in the pre and post-adjudication facilities. Adhere and comply with all TJJD standards to include Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) standards and cooperate with all ANE investigations. Adhere and comply CCJJD's and Cameron County's policies and procedures and know how to keep abreast of any changes to said policies and procedures, including maintaining an effective safety program as established by Cameron County. Abide by all federal, state, and local laws; the nature of our profession requires being a good role model and setting a good example at all times. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required; maintain work schedule, random irregular hours Employment is contingent upon federal, state, local and/or grants availability. CCJJD is an At-Will employer; the department has the right to terminate your employment for any legal reason, or no reason, at any time either with or without notice. Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer and/or designee to include reassignment which is in the best interest of the department. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: Policies, practices, procedures and legal terminology related to court system. Applicable Juvenile Justice System standards and procedures. Standard practices in area of assignment. Safety and security techniques and standards. Skills In: Problem solving and decision making, thinking analytically, concentrating on tasks, making decisions, adjusting to changes, directing others and using math calculations. Effective verbal and written communication; submit written documentation clearly, accurately and impartially, meeting deadlines Basic Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet, databases and a variety of software packages Ability To: Gather, analyze and evaluate facts to conduct investigations and report results clearly, accurately and impartially Required to possibly work different schedules in order to meet the needs of the program/department Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Reason and make judgments and decisions. Maintain client and program confidentiality. Manage time well, perform multiple tasks, and organize diverse activities. Perform effectively and courteously in a stressful environment while maintaining a professional manner. WORK ENVIORNMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work Environment: Tobacco free environment. Work inside and outdoors in cold/hot temperature Absolutely no electronic devices or cell phones allowed in the pre or post-adjudication facilities while either on/off shift. Subject to contact with communicable diseases. Must be able to work in high noise level environment. At no time, will the review or use of social media be allowed while on duty, and/or on County provided electronic equipment, except in limited situations where such activity is work related and is authorized by the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer or designee. Physical Demands: Physical requirements include the ability to life/carry up to 50-100 pounds, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and basic office equipment, such as fax, copier, scanner, phone, and printer. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, talking and squatting to perform essential functions. Maintain stamina during workday When back-up emergency response is needed, must be able to run to the requested location. Work Uniforms: Must adhere to the CCJJD Dress Code Policy If visible tattoos, sleeves or cover ups must be worn. Sets the example regarding personal appearance with regards to hair being neatly trimmed and combed. This is not a Civil Service covered position.
