Job Description The Finance Organization is seeking a proven, experienced, asset management Vice President, Head of Financial Operations in Hartford, Connecticut. The ideal candidate will have significant managerial and general ledger experience in the asset management industry including a detailed understanding of mutual fund and separate account revenue streams, compensation programs, operating expenses, and corporate treasury activities. In addition, the right candidate will have considerable experience with respect to major accounting system projects/process improvements including general ledger implementations and upgrading other key sub-ledger systems in the areas of billing and expense management. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance, this leadership role will have management responsibility for a team of experienced accounting professionals to complete a broad set of responsibilities. Responsibilities: Responsible for the overall monthly closing process and underlying A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets, etc., and ensuring adherence to Sarbanes Oxley 404 internal control processes and providing attestation of thereon. Maintain and manage chart of accounts, general ledger, consolidation, and accounting application systems. Direct management, oversight, and development of professional accounting staff, with other indirect reports. Promote the development and counseling of direct and indirect reports through formal and informal feedback and training. Lead special projects to improve reporting systems related to the Company's general ledger, accounts payable activities, client billing, and expense management. Serve as lead contact for the relationship with third-party technology consultants that assist in general ledger-related projects. Lead financial operations integration of inorganic transactions, as they may arise, to consolidate activities onto the centralized accounting platform. Oversee and manage the activities of the group for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reporting including internal & external financial statements; quarter and annual closing documents and analysis. Review and approve ledger account certifications for select financial statement line items and attest to the completeness of all account certifications and fluctuation analyses. Oversight, reconciliation, and review of affiliate intercompany balances and activity. In addition, a key contributor to the creation of new intercompany agreements, in consultation with Legal and FP&A. Coordinates and supports information requests from independent Big Four public accounting firms in connection with year-end audits and SAS 100 quarterly reviews. Work collaboratively with the VP, Technical Accounting and Regulatory Reporting on special transactions ranging from the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, revenue recognition, equity accounting, new product launches, and income tax matters. Assist in the preparation of SEC and other external reporting requirements including international regulatory authorities. Monitor and enhance the internal control environment for effectiveness and efficiency in accordance with the COSO framework and Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Oversight of Travel and Entertainment expense administration processes and systems. Qualifications: BS Accounting; CPA required. Required work experience to include 15+ years of corporate accounting / financial operations experience, with asset management experience preferred. Strong management skills including demonstration of successfully leading a financial operations team. Strong technology orientation including experience leveraging a leading accounting system to enhance business processes. Ability to adhere to the Company's workplace policies, including the current hybrid work schedule that requires 3 days in the office per week. Ability to travel quarterly to other corporate offices where members of the financial operations team are located. Management Skills : Manage direct and indirect reports in a multi-location hybrid work environment. Ability to include staff in planning, decision making, facilitating, and process improvement; available to staff; provide regular performance feedback; develop subordinates' skills and encourage growth. Ability to delegate work assignments, and set and monitor expectations. Manage and oversee projects, determine action plans and layout, and monitor the timing and completion of the action plan. Problem-solve independently and lead staff in the resolution of problems and issues. The salary range is $168,000 to $231,000.
