Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital in Byron Center, MI is a growing 24-hour Emergency & Specialty hospital offering a fast-paced work and rewarding environment. We are looking for an Ophthalmology Technician to join our outstanding Ophthalmology department! Our seasoned Emergency Veterinarians, Technicians, and Assistants pride themselves on providing high-quality medical care to our patients around the clock. We are looking for candidates available to work (4) 10 hour shifts per week. Our new, state of the art, Emergency & Specialty hospital provides 10,000 square feet to allow for 24 hour Emergency & Critical Care to our community. Our hospital is located close to Tanger Outlet Mall. Byron Center is also home to unique independent stores, many comfort-food restaurants and abundant recreation opportunities. Byron Center is easily accessible from two major expressways and is just 15 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids. Benefits of Working at Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital – Byron Center : ·We work hard to support a learning environment where everyone is encouraged to ask questions and learn from co-workers and doctors ·Variety of cases – ensuring no two days are the same ·We utilize state-of-the-art technological equipment and provide the latest and most optimal animal healthcare treatment services ·We foster an environment where our technicians are utilized to their fullest ability and encouraged to continue their professional development ·We provide mentorship & career growth opportunities The Ideal Candidate: Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge base, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a team are required Venipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations and administration; patient prep and recovery; anesthesia monitoring for a variety of anesthetized procedures Assisting Ophthalmologist during patient appointments, providing outstanding client communication and education Performing sterile scrub and assist Ophthalmologist throughout surgical procedures Advocating for the patient, providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients Job requirements: Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience Technical skill set such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement and general nursing care experience is needed Preference given to applicants with advanced skill sets which include Schirmer tear tests, tonometry, ocular ultrasounds, electroretinograms, and the use of paralytics Anesthesia monitoring, perform sterile scrub, assist doctors throughout a variety of surgical procedures Ability to lift and restrain patients up to 40lbs Ability to work in a collaborative environment Commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community Excellent communication and organizational skills Advocate for patient care Self-motivated with a passion for veterinary medicine Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast- paced environment LVT preferred but not required Other: Continue to learn and develop a strong skill set. Participate in staff training as requested. Participate within the overall team in a productive and positive manner. Comply with all hospital policies, procedures and standards of care. Physical: Able to properly restrain dog and cat patients for veterinary care and procedures Able to stand, sit, bend, restrain, squat for extended periods of time Able to lift 40 lbs in a safe manner Able to type, write and verbally converse Able to work the posted schedule Pay range starts at $23/hour. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
