US Army SERE School - Lead Instructor

Job Summary: The Army SERE program Lead Instructors are highly experienced instructors designated to lead training in each SERE skill area; Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape, and also classroom-based academic instruction. These individuals provide Subject Matter Expertise-based guidance and mentorship to assigned Contractor personnel and bear primary responsibility for the execution of course material IAW POI and SOP. They conduct instructor duties and instructor trainer/evaluator duties. This position is contingent on the award of a government contract. Responsibilities: Provide Subject Matter Expertise-based guidance and mentorship in their designated skill area and oversee execution of course material to ensure compliance with POI and SOP. Conduct instructor trainer/evaluator duties IAW US Army SERE School policy. Provide field, academic and role-playing /scenario based training in SERE subjects to facilitate effective student learning and accomplish POI objectives for the US Army SERE School training program. Be proficient and skilled in the TRADOC-approved ADDIE training development methodologies, to include evaluations, analysis, design, and implementation of individual and collective training plans, lesson plans, training scenarios, and POIs. Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SERE subjects, including but not limited to: Global Positioning Systems (GPS)/ map reading, land navigation, survival methods/techniques, preparation of fish and game, plant identification, escape and evasion, air/sea/land ex-filtration, cross cultural communications, physical and psychological aspects of isolation and captivity, clandestine communication, escape planning, resistance to exploitation, interrogation and the US Military Code of Conduct. Perform instructor duties IAW standards and procedures set forth in TRADOC Regulation 350-70, as appropriate, and shall conform to scheduled lesson times established by POI and the course schedule. Accomplish appropriate documentation and records keeping of student performance IAW US Army SERE School procedures and conduct student remediation when appropriate. Required Skills and Experience: US Citizen DoD SECRET clearance Graduate of a DoD full spectrum SERE - C course including Wartime, Peacetime Governmental Detention (PDG) and Hostage Detention (HD) training. Training may be from a singular course or multiple courses as long as training in all skillsets has been completed. Complete government provided psychological evaluation and be "fit" to perform duties in support of this contract ** this is a government rendered determination ** Five (5) or more years' experience as a fully certified instructor trainer in the skills taught within their section. Demonstrate superior communication and mentorship skills. Successfully completed any approved DoD Instructor Trainers Course (ITC), or other equivalent course. Perform physically and mentally rigorous tasks related to SERE training including the ability to: lift/carry 45 pounds, walk up to six (6) miles per day with a rucksack, and provide up to ten (10) consecutive hours of instruction and or performing various physical activities while holding up to 75 pounds of supported weight and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds up to 50 meters/10 minutes. Effectively provide SERE instruction in austere training environments including indoor, outdoor, day and night conditions in varying weather climates (hot, cold, wet, etc). Desired Skills and Experience: Full certification as Evaluator in the associated discipline, IAW the US Army Staff & Faculty Certification Plan. Previous instructor trainer/evaluator experience at the US Army SERE School. Previous instructor trainer/evaluator experience at a DoD SERE Level C program. Valid Class C Commercial Driver's License with HAZMAT endorsement for transport of pyrotechnics. Prior military service in Army Aviation or a SOF occupational specialty Required Background Check: Secret Clearance; comprehensive employment background screening.
