Ryan Specialty is looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Inspections to join our team. Position Summary: The Inspection Team Member will provide support to the underwriting teams by assisting with the handling of inspections. They are expected to provide friendly and professional service and communicate professionally and effectively to our agents and carrier partners. Essential Functions: Handling some or all of the following tasks: inspection ordering, follow up with inspection vendor and agent regarding the inspection, review of completed inspection against the insurance policy, handling of inspection discrepancies and recommendations, inspection related correspondence from carriers and agents. Handling incoming and outgoing phone calls from inspection vendors, agents, and insurance carriers. Working collaboratively with inspection team members to accomplish goals for accurate and timely handling of tasks. Covering other inspection team members when they are out of the office. Communication with team leader to keep them informed of status of workload and turnaround times. Attending team meetings as needed to ensure proper communication with your team members. Assisting with training of other inspection team members. Assisting with the review of inspection related tasks to ensure accuracy and appropriate customer service. Other relevant duties as assigned. Education/Experience/Skills: A NYS broker’s license is preferred, but not required at this time. It may be required in the future. At least one (1) year of Property/Casualty insurance experience preferred. Basic Property/Casualty underwriting comprehension preferred. Must be an enthusiastic, positive person who embraces a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Ability to establish collaborative working relationships and actively develop them to effectively accomplish work objectives. Able to work collaboratively with others to accomplish goals. Ability to perform job duties and manage workload with little supervision. Must be punctual, and demonstrate initiative and strong work ethic. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining accuracy and strong attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and accurately with customers, carriers, and employees of the company. Ability to prepare effective, professional, and accurate written communication for customers and employees of organization. Ability to define customer service problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to provide strong customer support for internal and external customers. Intermediate computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). Proven track record of being a team player. The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
