CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE Manage all aspects of tree service jobs through the efficient use of labor and materials, and proper staff supervision that produce desired profit margins and optimal customer satisfaction; perform related work as required. DISTINGUISHINGCHARACTERISTICS Reporting to the Tree Care Manager, the Tree Care Account Manager ensures work is performed efficiently and safely, drives job profitability, maintains high-touch customer satisfaction, and performs required administrative functions for respective tree jobs. This position differs from the Tree Care Manager in that the latter is independently responsible for all system-wide tree care work including: generating new tree proposals, developing the work schedules of all tree care crews, and being solely accountable for the profit and loss of the Tree Care Division.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The examples of functions listed in this job description are representative, but not necessarily exhaustive, of any one position in this job classification. Management may assign other functions not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment for the position. Full responsibility for multiple tree care jobs by managing labor, materials, time, and customer expectations efficiently; inspects diverse species of trees for damage from insects, injury and disease; reviews all customer requests for pruning or removals; oversees the performance of specialized pruning and takedowns, installing cabling and bracing, operating equipment (e.g., chainsaws, chippers, hand tools, stump grinders, bucket trucks) safely; recommends solutions regarding species selection and site location; produces tree trimming schedules, proposals, and inventories; addresses organic and environmental hazards associated with tree trimming (e.g., utility lines, space requirements, use of cranes); tracks project status and closes projects appropriately; completes necessary paperwork (e.g., invoices, time cards, safety documents); secures all local safety permits and right of way considerations; attends safety meetings; trains, coaches, disciplines, and does follow-up on staff as required; conducts necessary job documentation; complies with and role models administrative policies and procedures; is available for "on call" emergencies; and provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and Bemus staff in a courteous and efficient manner.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES Knowledge of: arboriculture; tree identification, tree wounding/pruning, and tree removal; safe work practices involving equipment (e.g., chain saws, chippers, truck buckets) and tree climbing procedures (e.g., processes, PPE, teamwork); aerial rescue; local procedures associated with securing permits, right of way, and traffic control issues; basic mathematics; principles of supervision; administrative procedures (e.g., time cards, equipment inventory, punch lists); Microsoft Office suite; methods of project/time management; and Bemus customer service objectives, norms, and strategies. Skills to: manage all aspects (e.g., schedule labor, order materials, conduct documentation) of multiple tree care jobs; assign, organize, and track each phase of a job to ensure the client, suppliers, and company staff understand the quality and schedule requirements; communicate and work effectively with others; manage time and projects effectively; role model proper equipment operation, safety practices, and tree climbing functions; supervise multiple work crews (e.g., delegation, training, coaching, discipline, and follow-up); work independently; work within the Microsoft Office suite; communicate effectively in written and verbal form in English and Spanish; provide excellent customer service by ensuring clients needs are fulfilled in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion by demonstrating courtesy, efficiency, and professionalism. Functional/Technical Skills: Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE An example of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position includes: at least three (3) years of professional tree climbing, tree trimming, and tree care management experience equivalent to that identified above.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS The physical characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions required by this job classification. Frequently climb diverse species of trees of various heights using appropriate safety equipment; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range.SPECIAL NOTES, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Pre-employment: Incumbents must sign the Bemus Landscape Inc. Non-disclosure and Confidentiality Agreement prior to their first day on the job. License: Incumbents are required to possess a valid class "C" California driver's license. Certifications: Incumbents must possess a current ISA Certified Arborist credential and complete CPR training and maintain that certification bi-annually. Language: Bilingual English & Spanish skills are required of this position. Working Conditions: Work is predominately outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels; exposure to dust, pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, dust, fumes, and electrical currents. Background Investigation: Incumbents must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Prior to appointment, candidates may be subject to a background investigation and/or drug test. Introductory Period: Incumbents appointed to this job classification serve an introductory period of three months. Development: Incumbents must complete the Basic Equipment Training program during their first month on the job, earn their Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) within their first year on the job, and earn requisite CEUs to maintain it thereafter.KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Key Performance Indicators will be specified at the time of appointment.
