Responsibilities As a Swim Coach , you will be responsible for designing and implementing swim training programs, providing technical instruction, and motivating athletes to achieve their full potential in the pool. You will work with swimmers of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to elite athletes, focusing on stroke technique, endurance, and race strategy. Additionally, you will foster a positive and supportive team environment, collaborate with other coaching staff, and communicate effectively with swimmers.*This person is responsible for showing up to coach program events in-person. Design comprehensive swim training programs tailored to athlete needs, focusing on stroke refinement, endurance building, and race preparation. Co-lead group swim practices, providing hands-on coaching and feedback to athletes to improve technique, speed, and efficiency in the water. Offer personalized coaching and support to swimmers, assessing strengths and weaknesses and developing strategies for improvement. Teach proper stroke technique and swimming skills, utilizing drills, video analysis, and other tools to enhance performance. Inspire and motivate swimmers to set and achieve personal goals, fostering a positive and supportive culture. Maintain open and effective communication with swimmers, providing regular updates on training progress, and programexpectations. Stay abreast of developments in swimming techniques, coaching methodologies, and competitive trends, continuously seeking opportunities for professional development. Qualifications Previous experience coaching competitive swimmers at various levels, with a proven track record of success. Hold relevant coaching certifications, such as American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA), and First Aid/CPR certification. Deep understanding of swimming stroke mechanics, training methodologies, and race strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and inspire swimmers of all ages and abilities. Strong leadership qualities, with the capacity to lead and mentor a team of swimmers effectively. Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. Collaborative mindset, willing to work closely with other coaching staff and support personnel to achieve program goals. Genuine passion for the sport of swimming and a commitment to promoting its growth and development. Ability to adapt coaching strategies and training plans to accommodate the diverse needs and abilities of swimmers. Able to work Monday evenings between 6pm-9pm at Northside College Prep, 5501 N. Kedzie Ave. Ability to demonstrate swimming strokes and techniques. Stamina and endurance to withstand long hours on the pool deck. Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.
