Overall Responsibility: A Tr a ffic En g ineer 1 supp o rts the P roject Engineer by a ccur a tely and efficiently p e rforming tr a ffic en g ineering task s . Mu s t be s elf - motiv a ted in d ividu a l that works we l l in a te a m-oriented e n vironment. Mu s t be able to make independent des i gn de c ision s . Key Areas of Responsibility: Proficiency in developing traffic signal plans and tr a ffic simulation mo d els in f o r capa c ity an a lysis a nd level o f s e rvice ev a luations. Basic understanding of tra f fic signal and ITS sy s t e ms. Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances. A firm understanding and consistent application of SEI/GDOT design standards Fundamental und e rstanding of the de s ign of transp o rtation sy s tems ( roadway, intersec t ion, p e destrian, e t c.) Pro f i c ient tech n ic a l w r i ti n g sk i lls in pr e p a r ing A s sist PE in p reparing T raff i c Imp a ct S tudies for both pu b lic and private c lients As s ist PE in p reparing Tra f fic Engineering Reports p e r Sta t e and l o cal D OT’s for traffic s i gnal w a rrants and ICE ev a luati o n s Knowledge of local state, county ordinances, including ADA. Basic data collection knowledge (count data, crash data, field inspections, signal timing data, basic surveying techniques, etc.) Accurate quantity takeoffs. Exc e ll e nt co m mu n ica t io n a nd r ela t io n ship bu i ldi n g s k i l ls Additi o n a l d u ties as a s sig n ed Experience, Proficiencies, Skills and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree (BS)in Traffic Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university. Minimum 1 year of related design experience. Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) in Georgia preferred within 1 year of employment. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation, Synchro, HCS, PC Warrants and Vissim (preferred). Working knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe PDF.
