Toolmaker Shifts: 1st Shift - 6:00AM-2:30PM 2nd Shift - 2:00PM-10:30PM Location: Le Sueur, MN Position Summary : The Toolmaker is responsible to repair, revise, and refurbish/build LSI and Customer owned molds, tooling, and fixtures by performing machining and mechanical processes, methods, and techniques. Provides support for the Production Departments and Engineering; assisting with process and product improvements. Completes other duties as assigned. Requirements: Experienced Toolmaker with 4 years on the job experience. Applies tool-making skills to machine and assemble mold repair, mold build, and fixture/component projects. Applies basic skills and develops advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and appropriate equipment. Tasks are routine to moderately complex. Requires a working knowledge of MASTERCAM and PTC Creo or SolidWorks software. Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels. Works under immediate to moderate supervision to complete assigned duties. Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Ability to repair tools in the casting machines and/or injection molding machines to enable quick turn-around with repairs and processing as needed. Ability and experience with tool repair work and ability to document issues for tool history and continual improvement. Ability and experience with (or specialization on) Tool Room equipment at a medium level of competency (i.e.- CNC Mills, CNC EDMs, WEDMs). Working knowledge of MASTERCAM and PTC Creo and/or SolidWorks software to create, modify, and develop machine tool cutter paths from simple to moderately complex solid models. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems related to die cast machine and/or injection mold cycling, tool function in the machine. Completes miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, Physical Requirements): High school diploma or GED and a 2-year degree in Machine Tool Technology and/or similar work experience. Ability to read and understand work instructions and perform math computations and computer data entry. Ability to lift 40 lbs., climb a ladder up to 10 ft. and walk and stand during entire shift. Ability to perform repetitive pushing and sliding of mold plates and mold inserts. Periodically, this position requires repetitive hand, wrist, and grasping of objects with fingers for extended periods of time. Ability to visually detect quality defects.
