Job Description Position Title: Tooling Technician Division: Millwork Purpose How does the position contribute to the success of the operation, division and company? This position involves some or all of the various activities that take place within the grinding room, such as setting up moulder heads, grinding heads, finger joint heads, circular saws and band saws, and tool cleaning. Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations and Performance Measures What measures or metrics will the individual be measured on and what level of performance is required? Other duties may be assigned. Make certain that yourself as well as all team members are working in a safe manner. Provide immediate assistance in repairing and replacing tooling when damage occurs. Sharpen, repair, replace, and rebuild tooling for the Window Plant. Sharpen, repair, replace, and rebuild tooling for the Moulders department. Sharpen, repair, replace, and rebuild tooling for the Building 4 grinding room. Pick-up and deliver tooling, fingerjoint heads, and band saws to work centers. Responsible for all aspects of the accuracy and Quality of the finished product being produced, Customer satisfaction. TPM on the machines being operated in the grinding room. Able to proficiently read both slide and digital calipers & tape measure. Excellent People skills. Problem solving skills. Multi-tasking. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively. Ability to solve problems using critical thinking. Ability to work well and collaborate in a team environment. Effective time management and organizational skills. High level attention to detail Reporting Line and Supervisory Responsibilities The Tooling Technician reports to the Production Supervisor. Physical Demands and Work Environment What working conditions or physical functions are normally required to perform the essential functions of the job? The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
