Position Summary: The Tool Technology & Development Engineer is responsible for coordinating and supporting ramp up project activities related to A320 Family aircraft assembly jigs, tools, and equipment at the Final Assembly Line (FAL) - USA. This position will focus on the site A320 program ramp up to deliver the industrial system according to project requirements. Primary Responsibilities: Lead jigs & tools large projects including multiple work packages distributed within the project team. Provide necessary reporting for jigs & tools project status. Manage change requests and work package expenditures. Accountable for full project scope from concept stage though release to production. Conceptualize, specify and develop aircraft tooling and equipment based on production needs. Strong understanding of tolerancing, fixturing and electrical/mechanical/pneumatic systems needed for custom applications and feasibility determinations. Evaluate, specify and manage the modification/revision of existing designs for adaptation to project requirements. Provide technical expertise to call for tender processes including creation of subcontract specifications and scope of work statements. Support Quality group during engineering inspection of new/modified equipment for release to user acceptance testing. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned: Research, evaluate and specify machines and systems to fulfill customer requirements. Lead special projects assigned by the manager. Support other departments as needed. Provide subcontract advice and counsel to program managers, engineering personnel, and other related functions such as finance, quality and contract administration. Responsible to track, follow-up and report on corrective action plans regarding service delivery. Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Demonstrated capability to manage technical projects Knowledge of mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical systems 0 - 3 or more years managing subcontractor activities in a production environment Experience with ERP systems (SAP, etc.) Licensure/Certifications: Technical certifications preferred OSHA certifications preferred Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Strong technical capabilities (analysis of system/machine function, root cause analysis of equipment failures, experience with electric/pneumatic/hydraulic/PLC systems). Data analysis and presentation skills - ability to technically explain tooling/equipment issues. Strong organization skills - able to oversee many ongoing topics. Flexibility to quickly shift priorities based on the needs of the FAL. Communication Skills: Capable of managing complex topics with many stakeholders. Strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate resolution of urgent maintenance topics. Technical Systems Proficiency: Catia experience preferred Travel Required: Eligibility: Eligible for employment in US. Decision Making, Complexity: Capable to independently ma ke complex technical decisions related to assigned projects Able to validate cost assessments and provide necessary justifications Organizational information: Direct Reports: None Job Dimensions, Contributions to Success: Responsible for the successful implementation of small and large tooling projects. Accountable for on time & on quality delivery of each project assigned. Physical Requirements: Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
