The Office of Student Enrollment & Account Management (SEAM) is seeking a Business Analyst who will support Student Accounts with critical university billing-related functions. This position requires a creative thinker with a keen eye for details, strong technical & accounting aptitude, and resourcefulness. The Business Analyst must exhibit a positive attitude, work under limited supervision, and remain adaptable in an ever-changing environment, delivering quality, student-centered results. The Business Analyst will assist Student Accounts Operations (SAO) functions, which primarily include, but are not limited to, tuition calculation, annual reporting, project implementation, new business solutions, and troubleshooting.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport the Business Analyst with tuition calculation for each of the 8 JHU divisions.Serve as the secondary contact for business stakeholders and backup liaison between stakeholders and JHU University Information Systems (UIS).Provide technical and student support regarding IRS Form 1098-T and other areas, as required.Assist with the triage of production-related issues.Work closely with various internal and external business partners to ensure all business requirements are understood, documented, and met.Write SQL scripts in support of business operations and reporting. Develop test cases and perform user-acceptance testing.Provide support for new business solutions.Fully understand business problems presented and recommend creative solutions.Identify system/process/data impacts (upstream and downstream) and propose appropriate alternatives/remediation.Document business process needs for new, existing and/or enhanced products, services, or optimized business processes.Work independently with domain experts on low to medium-complexity tasks to clarify the problem/opportunity.Serve as backup to system user access requests.Other duties as necessary.Special Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExperience with collections, preferably in an educational setting.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrate strong logic and reasoning capabilities.Process-oriented.Well-developed interpersonal skills with the capacity to establish trust and positive working relationships across the university.Demonstrated ability to articulate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writingSuperior active listening skills.Advanced organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Willingness to commit to exceeding expectations and deliver the highest level of customer service. Self-motivated, proactive, friendly, courteous, and collaborativeMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in related field.Three years of related experience.Related experience in student account billing and/or accounts receivables is required. Additional years of experience are preferred.Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred QualificationsExperience in higher education and accounts receivable/billing is highly desired.Prior customer service experience preferred.Five years of related experience in student account billing and/or accounts receivables is required.
