Located in north central San Antonio, The Christian School at Castle Hills (CHS) occupies a spacious and beautiful campus. The school serves over 850 students and their families from preschool through twelfth grade. Students come from a wide variety of evangelical churches and highly socio-economically diverse backgrounds across the city. The Christian School at Castle Hills was founded in 1961 as a Christian Preschool and Kindergarten program that quickly became known for its Christ-centered focus and biblical foundation. Today, this program is recognized as the best academic head start in South Texas. In 1981, the school started as an elementary school (K-6) with 113 students. Adding a class each year, the first senior class graduated in 1987. The school became known for its influence in shaping young leaders. In 1987, Castle Hills received ACSI accreditation, the largest accreditation body of Christian schools and colleges in the world. Today, Castle Hills is recognized for the graduates they have produced who have gone on to change the world. Castle Hills is also distinguished by its unique Leadership Academy, Early College Academy (with Dual Credit Associates Degree), and for becoming the leading private school STEM program in South Texas. Castle Hills has been changing our world by changing young lives for generations. GOVERNANCE | LEADERSHIP A deeply supportive Board of Trustees governs the school through a policy governance model. The Superintendent oversees the daily operation of the school with the assistance of a High School Principal/Assistant Superintendent. They are supported by the Preschool Director, Elementary Principal, Intermediate/Middle School Principal, Dean of Students, Secondary Assistant Principal, and Curriculum Director. The Assistant Superintendent serves in the overall leadership and guidance of the school working hand-to-hand with the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent will transition to the Superintendent role over the next 36 months to lead the school to even greater levels of excellence for Jesus Christ. The spirit of our Board of Trustees and Administration is servant leadership. They hold the deep respect and confidence of the entire school family. These leaders demonstrate humble, yet courageous guidance in making the school the place it is in transforming student's lives. ACADEMICS | INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS The faculty provides an excellent Christian education through academic rigor, athletics focused on Kingdom values, and fine arts programs with a Gloria Deo emphasis on all things. Students have a range of activities, service, and mission opportunities. All areas of instructional and co-curricular programs challenge the students to pursue excellence for the glory of God. The CHS staff frequently participates in ACSI, TAPPS, and TPSMEA events and academic competitions. Annually, 15 to 20 students qualify to compete at the International STEM Competition at Grand Canyon University. We have placed first in one or more competitive categories since the inception of this competition. The school has gained recognition for addressing the challenges of our special needs population through our SOAR Program. We are committed to caring for the whole student, including their spiritual, educational, social, and emotional well-being. ATHLETICS | FINE ARTS | STEM COMPETITIONS CHS Athletics, Fine Arts, and STEM students have won 20 State and International Championships since 2010. We attribute these successes to the Kingdom's priority to give glory to God in all things. (Colossians 3:23) EAGLE ALUMNI Today, our 1250 alumni have served in the United States Congress and our State Legislature, as well as argued religious liberties cases before the Supreme Court. They have become college presidents, entrepreneurs, CEOs, published authors, lawyers, television producers, and KLOVE recording artists. Close to 40% of our graduates have gone to college toward pre-med or engineering majors. Finally, we take great pride in the multitude of pastors serving in the Kingdom of God, as well as missionaries spread throughout the globe. We are also proud of the many teachers who were once students at CHS who have since returned to give back to the current student body by providing the same quality education they received during their formative years.
