This includes switching and crew-position units for airborne, shipboard, unmanned, and ground applications for multi-mission platforms. Our systems operate in over 250 unique aircrafts and 9 classes of naval warships around the globe. Palomar Engineering team is working in Agile environment with multi-disciplinary teams. Job Summary Palomar is looking for a talented and highly motivated Test Engineering Intern to join the Development team and help perform Verification and Validation on software, firmware and system requirements for our Secure Communication System (SCS). The ideal candidate will be motivated, talented and will be eager to learn about software, firmware and system testing in the defense and aerospace industry. The Test Engineering intern will be assisting our senior engineers in testing products on tasks such as software structural coverage, software/firmware and system testing, requirements traceability verification matrices and test results documentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to: Performs detailed test procedures and be able to determine if a change is needed in the procedure or a defect is present in the Unit Under Test or system Identifies functional problems, and then initiate the necessary paperwork to document the deficiency and initiate work to define a resolution Debugs new software builds, identifies defects and writes concise Change Requests to document the issue(s) Builds engineering and production test equipment and fixtures used for system integration and testing Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works with management and technical leadership in performing specific assignments of average complexity Essential Skills and Required Experience: Knowledge in the use of a wide variety of test/lab equipment and computer programs required to perform test activities Must possess basic technology knowledge of processors, operating systems, application software, circuit cards, power supplies, interfaces, and similar items in order to be effective in testing the unit under test Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams Motivated self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
