Telecommunications Survey and Installation Technician

Description:
We are seeking an Entry to Mid-level Technician to provide support for installation, testing, and acceptance of telecommunications hardware and software in accordance with commercial and government standards. Individual must have a foundation of basic knowledge supplemented by work experience or formal education. This knowledge is based on principles of electronics, computerized information processing concepts and practices, general electrical and grounding installation concepts, and basic data transmission/telecommunications principles. You will be required to apply basic technical knowledge applicable to learning the various aspects of the National Airspace System (NAS). You will be required to perform, assist, and/or monitor site surveys as required at specific sites within the FAA mission. Experience in both commercial and government standards for these activities is preferred. You will assist in preparation and sometimes be required to prepare the documentation necessary to accomplish these tasks. This includes detailed site preparations for designated FAA facilities, utilizing electrical and construction skills to complete the site preparation. You will be responsible for performing the identification of existing site conditions and configurations, existing implementation status, implementation engineering and technical requirements, network and system engineering requirements, and implementation timelines. Ability to assist in the development of transition plans for telecommunications networks and systems is preferred. Plans may include the roles and responsibilities of each party along with schedules, procedures, milestones, deliverables, and funding and budget requirements. You will have to interface with the telecommunications service providers, other equipment and support contractors, and government employees throughout the country to accomplish the work. Coordination may also be required with other government agencies. You must work as a cooperative member of a team to successfully achieve transitions and the implementation of emerging requirements. Critical Position Requirements: Knowledge of general electrical and grounding installation practices (Critical and Essential power runs) Prepare written and oral reports for upper management regarding the status of a project Prompt and accurate submission of required reports Excellent organizational skills: travel coordination, recalling trip/facilities details, records keeping (receipts, etc.) Ability to self-manage time. Ability to follow directions both verbal and written. Desired Experience Proficient with using the Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams) Knowledge of heavy equipment use (excavators, skid steer, etc.) Ability to work both independently or as part of a team. Ability to coordinate with others to identify and solve a variety of problems. Ability to work in a dynamic environment. Ability to work in and around critical operational equipment. Ability to perform the moderate physical activity: climbing, lifting (75lbs), and crawling to install network cable and equipment in awkward and confined spaces. Ability to communicate issues or concerns affecting the tasks and assist in the resolution. Ability to provide liaison function with various FAA lines of business and external customers.
