Job ID 15732 Department Telecommunications (10000037) Union Classification Non Union Type Full Time - Salaried # of Openings 1 Job Location Everett, Washington (US-WA) Closing Date 05/30/2024 Salary/Wage $66,601.00 - $155,975.00 annually Job Summary The Telecommunications department is growing to meet the evolving communications needs of a modern utility. We are actively replacing our land mobile radio system and primary fiber transport network as well as installing a radio network to support our distribution automation and smart meter initiatives. An ideal candidate will have a strong background in RF engineering and modern packet transport technologies. Position plans, designs, develops, and engineers the District’s telecommunications data transport and land mobile radio systems. Provides consistent detailed, and accurate project documentation to technical staff for efficient and timely completion of work. Supports compliance with all applicable governmental, industry, and District standards and policies. Minimum Required Skills and Abilities Electronic theory and troubleshooting procedures. Operation of electronics test and diagnostic equipment. Telecommunications network management systems. Packet-switched (IP) network implementation and protocols (including VPNs, MPLS, MPLS-TP, Carrier ethernet). Safety and technical practices. Records and record keeping procedures. Computer and peripheral hardware and their interfaces. Engineering principles and computer programming and scripting languages appropriate to various types of platforms and applications. Engineering economics. Digital LAN/WAN design. Equipment and site layouts. Communicate and work effectively, both orally and in writing, with various levels of the organization, outside agencies, and customers. Interpret and apply District directives, policies and procedures. Use independent and discretionary judgment. Effectively coordinate activities. Manage confidential information. Analyze, critique, and evaluate network problems and solutions. Resolve issues using collaborative, team techniques. Minimum Qualifications Telecommunications Engineer I $32.02 - $53.37 (hourly) • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; OR • Four (4 years) of experience in the Telecommunications or a related Electric Utility field, Telecommunications Engineer II $83,556 - $139,264 (salary) • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; AND • Two (2) years of experience in the Telecommunication or a related Electric Utility field; OR • Six (6) years of experience in the Telecommunication or a related Electric Utility field. Telecommunications Engineer III $93,583 – $155,975 (salary) • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; AND • Four (4) years of experience in the Telecommunication or a related Electric Utility field; OR • Eight (8) years of experience in the Telecommunications or a related Electric Utility field.
