Position Summary As a Technical Operations Manager your main responsibility would be to oversee the technical operations and production processes involved primarily in the finishing portion of paperboard converting. Ensuring that the paperboard packaging converting process runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards, while also driving continuous improvement and innovation in the production process. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Manage the technical operations of the paperboard packaging converting process, including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, as well as operators and associates within the finishing department. Develop and implement production plans, ensure schedule attainment, and have a clear understanding of quality control measures to ensure that the packaging materials are produced to the highest quality standards. Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings. Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement, scheduling, maintenance, and engineering, to ensure that production processes are aligned with customer demands and supply chain requirements. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations and standards. Manage and develop a team of technical operators and production staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Identify and implement new technologies and innovations that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finishing equipment. Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to support and implement continuous improvement efforts. Assist to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and other financial reports related to the technical operations of the paperboard packaging converting process. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Functional understanding of manufacturing to include raw materials use, equipment, and its basic operation, established quality systems, and general production scheduling. Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to lead large group discussions. Problem solving/troubleshooting skills sufficiently developed to identify resources necessary to solve problems beyond the present groups' level of expertise. Ability to make timely decisions, exercise good judgment and act in the absence of guidance. Able to perform job responsibilities with minimum supervision. Capacity to set a good work ethic and be able to direct a diverse work force. Strong working knowledge of MS Office products - Outlook, Word, Excel Working knowledge of OSHA, Safety, GMP, EEO, EPA regulations Exudes and conveys a "sense of urgency." Ability to interpret financial and performance reports and stimulate positive corrective action. Professional skills to interface with Customers, Vendors, Suppliers, Manufacturer's Reps, Technicians, etc. Must be able to communicate in English and possess strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in a self-directed manner. Willingness to learn and improve personal, team and organizational performance. Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Post-secondary education a plus. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing environment at a comparable Supervisory or Management level. Experience in multi-shift manufacturing environment preferred. Strong background in engineering, and manufacturing, as well as experience managing technical projects and operations management. Folding carton/packaging experience a plus. Working Conditions Fast paced manufacturing environment Flexibility with work hours as necessary to accomplish goals. Must be ambulatory, have good visual acuity and normal color perception, lift and move up to 50 pounds, stand or sit for extended periods.
