GRI is seeking an experienced Technical Editor to join our growing team. As a Technical Editor at GRI, you'll provide professional-level editorial support for the project teams. This includes reviewing, editing, revising, and reorganizing documents as necessary to improve content and style. From environmental reports and workplans to simple memos and project geotechnical investigation reports, you'll partner with project teams to edit, compile, and deliver quality work products. Our team depends on this position to edit documents and other client deliverables for content, compliance, relevance, clarity, accuracy, overall tone, and spelling/grammatical errors and to generally ensure all written content meets our company's QA/QC standards. This role will also assist with presentation materials, non-technical reports, publication review, file management, and other overhead tasks to support the group as needed.GRI is an employee-owned, full-service geotechnical, pavement, geological, and environmental engineering consulting firm based in the Portland, Oregon area. GRI promotes a collaborative work culture, supports training and career development, and encourages work-life integration, which results in a highly desirable work environment.General responsibilities include: Maintains GRI's Style Guide and independently identifies areas of improvement; issues quarterly reports to the Production Manager on changes/revisions, and provides updates to the team. Manages the ShareFile system & maintains consistent clean-up to adhere to the firm's document control policy. Primary Editor on technical reports and administrative documents. Supports Quality Assurance/Quality Control as directed on technical reports and papers per client requirements and/or company policy. Provides onboarding for document review process, templates, and style guide to new technical staff. Maintains/Organizes the Production Drive so only the most current versions exist on the drive. Assists with creation of universal standards, with a particular focus on archives/record retention. Assists with capturing and organizing project data in an electronic format for the office. Encourages a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaborative workflow among departments and project teams. Actively identifies areas of improvement across databases, digital, and paper files. Develops and takes ownership of the firm's document and informational programs. Manages process changes, including transition between legacy and new processes. Collaborates with special project teams or cross-functional groups on other information/ data management. Required Skills / Abilities: Strong technical writing/editing skills. Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications (including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Competency in Adobe publishing programs (specifically Acrobat; knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is a plus). Experience working with teams of subject matter experts/technical staff to develop documentation with a unified "voice." Ability to perform document coordination and production activities with specific attention to detail and accuracy. Experience managing all aspects of a deliverable program (template development, file management, program standards and styles, team communication, and printing/binding of final reports). Firm grasp of grammatical rules, clear and concise writing, and references and citations. Experience delivering on multiple simultaneous deadlines. Demonstrated time management skills and prioritization of time when working on multiple deliverables. Strong interpersonal skills. Must conform to editing guidelines and the GRI writing standards, style, and protocols. Familiarity with standard editing conventions, such as those in the current edition of The Chicago Manual of Style. Experience in the A/E/C industry (preferred). Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related discipline. 5+ years editing technical or industry-based documents in a professional environment. Valid driver's license. Physical Requirements: Use computers, tablets, and mobile devices. Location: This role is a full-time position at our main office in Tigard, Oregon, near Bridgeport Village.
