Role Technical Development Engineer Location West Coast, Chicago Area, Ohio (Auto Focused) Job Description : As a Technical Development Engineer you will be responsible for supporting growth in your geography or end market by providing technical support to molders and OEMs. Major responsibilities include providing solutions through material suggestions, molding process optimization, tool and part design recommendations, and industry leading knowledge of new technologies. In this role you will collaborate closely with the commercial and business development functions to target opportunities where your ability to deliver technical services will create value. Your knowledge and experience with molding processes will allow you to assist customers with process set-ups, product sampling, trouble shooting at the press and optimizing processes. The Technical Development Engineer will assist in product training at customers and with the Bamberger commercial team. A successful Technical Development Engineer will proactively develop relationships wide and deep at molders and OEMs with a high level of focus on material specifiers, part designers and specification influencers. Desired Skills & Experience: Bachelor of Science with plastics, chemical engineering, mechanical or related engineering course work A minimum of 5 years of plastics industry experience in in a technical service role High level of competence in injection molding with experience at the press molding engineering thermoplastics Certificated training through RJG, AIM Institute, Paulson or another plastics industry recognized program is a plus Strong understanding of plastic material science, properties and performance Experience in presenting and training technical content to multiple levels in a business setting The ability to take initiative and work independently to build relationships at molders and OEMs Strong communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate Inquisitive mindset with a focus on new technologies, equipment, materials and plastic industry trends 50% overnight travel expected
