POSITION OVERVIEW The NBME® Test Development Technology team provides training, documentation, and support services to both internal and external staff. As a member of the team, the Technical Communications and Support Specialist will support custom software projects that require specialized documentation, training, and support initiatives where you will be tasked with creating user information, facilitating training plans, and responding to user issues. This role has been designated as primarily remote which means it generally does not require onsite work more than an average of 2-3 times per month and may require additional prescheduled onsite work. We're open to considering candidates in the following states: PA, NJ, DE and MD. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical support in the form of communications and user issue resolution. Create and update online documentation for varying audiences and technical topics. Field and triage customer issues via ticketing system. Assist with testing new applications and with managing UAT. Collaborate with other units and external vendors in the research, design and /or testing of new technology and software. Work with TD Tech team on ongoing process, reporting, and communications improvements. Assist with other projects including new product development, legacy system retirement, and exam delivery. QUALIFICATIONS Skills and Abilities Ability to translate technical information to a non-technical audience and deliver information to customers on the fly. Experience producing any of the following technical communications: user documentation, training, job aids, release notes, video, eLearning, and other forms of user education. Customer-facing problem-solving skills and familiarity with IT/customer service ticketing systems. Project management proficiency, including setting priorities consistent with unit goals and handling multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and writing skills. Ability to learn and apply new technology quickly. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Experience 3-5 years working with technology and communications, preferably in a role that provided user support/education. Experience with SnagIt/Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, MadCap Flare, Arbortext, RoboHelp, Visio, or similar online communications production tools. Experience with SharePoint and Service Now. Knowledge of test development, including experience with processes for item development, storage, and/or scoring would be helpful. Working knowledge of markup languages (XML, HTML, Markdown, etc.) is a big plus. Education Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related discipline; a technical degree with a minor in any of those; or a combination of equivalent education and experience About NBME: NBME offers a versatile selection of high-quality assessments and educational services for students, professionals, educators, regulators and institutions dedicated to the evolving needs of medical education and health care.
