MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer for Commercial LEO Development Program (ATCS) with the Engineering Division on the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are looking for individuals with creative ideas, diverse backgrounds, and a passion for human space exploration to take on this exciting challenge. As a Systems Engineer for Commercial LEO Development Program (ATCS) you will: Perform requirements decomposition and develop requirements for Commercial Element and Commercial Destination Free Flyer (CDFF) modules as they develop Develop and/or support verification and validation plans and statements Develop and/or support interface control documents Review and provide comments on program documentation Support trade studies on ATCS equipment Coordinate with the Commercial LEO system management team Coordinate with the Commercial Element and CDFF teams Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support Perform other duties as required Here's What You'll Need: Required Education/Experience/Skills: This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design of software and tools Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings Familiarity with Microsoft Office products Requisition Preferences: Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures Experience with spacecraft Active Thermal Control systems and hardware Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) Experience with Systems Engineering processes and techniques Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which this position has been advertised. Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). Equipment and Machines Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
