We are seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to perform survey work involved in performing preliminary as-built, control, topographic, boundary, location, and ALTA surveys for projects. Responsibilities: Perform topographic surveys, boundary retracement surveys, ALTA surveys, and construction surveys. Operate robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, levels, and data collectors Perform mathematical calculations to establish and locate property corners, vertical and horizontal reference points, and line staking for projects. Interpret maps, survey plats, engineering plans, architectural plans, and construction specifications. Clean, check, and adjust survey instruments and equipment to ensure the accuracy of measurements. Skills and Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED (Associate or Baccalaureate degree preferred) Minimum of one year of survey instrument operation or related experience is preferred Ability to operate and maintain survey instruments and equipment Ability to interpret maps, plans, and specifications Ability to perform algebraic, geometric, and other mathematical calculations Ability to take survey notes and make field sketches/drawings Detail-oriented with good communication skills Good time management and problem-solving skills Ability to use Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook Knowledge of CAD software and drafting skills are desirable but not required Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, raise hands above head, sit, climb and balance, and work in confined spaces and heights Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, on a regular basis, over rough terrain Must have adequate vision to perform survey tasks and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions Valid Driver's license with a good driving record and ability to drive Summit Design and Engineering is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action.
