Job Summary: A Surgical Technologist, also known as a scrub tech, plays a vital role in the operating room, providing essential support to surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other surgical personnel during medical procedures. Key Responsibilities: Preparation for Surgery: Set up the operating room with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment. Ensure sterility and proper arrangement of surgical tools. Assist During Surgery: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants, adjust lights, and manage surgical equipment as required. Maintain a Sterile Environment: Uphold strict sterile field standards to prevent infection. Monitor and maintain sterility throughout procedures. Patient Care: Assist in preparing patients for surgery, which may include positioning, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites. Inventory Management: Keep track of surgical instruments and supplies, restocking as necessary and alerting staff to equipment needs or malfunctions. Post-Operative Responsibilities: Assist with the clean-up of the operating room, sterilizing and preparing instruments for future surgeries. Skills and Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred. Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Physical stamina and manual dexterity. Work Environment: Surgical Technologists primarily work in operating rooms in hospitals or outpatient surgery centers.
