The Surgical Physician Assistant works closely with the physicians to provide quality, efficient, and thoughtful patient care. The Physician Assistant has advanced health assessment and decision-making skills. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: performing history and physical examinations, comprehensive assessment, ordering diagnostic test, prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies, following therapeutic protocols, and providing educational instruction in collaboration with the multidisciplinary transplant team. This individual must demonstrate the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required. This position will provide medical/surgical care to pre and post liver, kidney & pancreas transplant patients, hepatobiliary surgery and Vascular access patients. Additional responsibilities include fluid management post liver and kidney/pancreas transplant; Post transplant care - managing patients in recovery unit, ICU, transplant floor, wound management, foley management; Pre-op patients for abdominal transplants (kidney, pancreas, liver). The PA will work in the inpatient hospital setting. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree Required Graduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant required program. Registered as a Physician’s Assistant in New York State NCCPA certified BLS & ACLS certification required 4 years PA experience – required Inpatient experience- preferred Spanish Speaking – preferred not required Schedule: Variable, includes nights and weekends 12.5 hrs Department: Transplant Surgery Bargaining Unit: 1199 Campus: MOSES Employment Status: Regular Full-Time Address: 111 East 210th Street, Bronx Shift: Day Scheduled Hours: 7 AM-8:30 PM Req ID: 218788 Salary Range/Pay Rate: $75.62 For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.
