Now Hiring Superintendent - Engineering (Municipal Planning & Development) The City of Medicine Hat's City Planning department has an exciting leadership opportunity for an Engineer with municipal planning & development experience. You will utilize technical expertise while providing leadership to the engineering work group to achieve departmental and divisional objectives. Your thorough working knowledge in land development processes, industry practices and municipal standards and policies sets the foundation for success in this role. As our ideal candidate, you have strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage, support and motivate a team of highly skilled and professional individuals. You have solid technical knowledge of land development, regulations and approval processes, exercise sound judgment and have considerable business acumen. To thrive in this role, you demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships across organizational lines, with contractors, developers, professional consultants, regulatory authorities and the general public. Required Qualifications: Successful completion of a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution. Six (6) years directly related experience including two (2) years supervisory experience as a Professional Engineer in a related field. Professional membership in, or the ability to become a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA). Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with acceptable driving record. An equivalent combination of management approved competencies may be considered. This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
