In search of: Seasonal Summer Tutors who are excited about spending their days impacting the lives of children, thrive in a youth centered environment and long to serve as professional role models and educators for students in grades K-5. Positions available in the Canton City, Plain Township and Alliance communities. Who Are We? The YMCA of Central Stark County is an inclusive, nonprofit organization striving to promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility in order to strengthen communities. The Y Day Camp program serves over 800 children a day in seven different day camp locations in Stark County. Camps are located in YMCA branches and school buildings. Who Are We Looking For? Individuals who will... • Provide small group and/or one on one direct instruction to students to combat summer slide and reinforce reading, math, and science skills. Help to plan activities based on assessed needed skills. • Help to gather and maintain data on skill progress of all students. Document student success. • Be a part of an amazing team of staff focused on supporting children as they grow and learn while partnering with parents and other adults. • Promote the six pillars of character (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring & Citizenship) through personal actions and intentional activities. • Enjoy being of service to others and knowing that the work you do contributes to building a better community. Qualifications: • At least 18 years old and completed High School • Availability June 1st through August 4th 2023 for both training and work hours • Ability to pass a background check • Prior experience with tutoring preferred • Seeking or completed a degree in education or related field. Minimum Associates Degree or higher preferred Hours: 9:00AM to 3:00PM *Hours may vary per location. 3-4 days per week Monday through Friday. Approximately 15-20 hours per week.
