About Our Opportunity The Nova Scotia Museum is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic assistant to assist with the pictorial collection digitization and digital asset management. This project will support the Nova Scotia Museum's accessibility goals with the intent of digitizing hardcopy material and updating obsolete digital media to current standards in preparation for being accessible through an online collection. Following training in collections management principles and procedures, research and reporting practices, database use and digitization equipment and standards the successful candidate will assist with conducting inventories, prioritizing, and digitizing photographs, slides, documents, and obsolete digital media. The digitized material will be uploaded to the collections database. The assistant will research best practices for long term storage and upkeep of hard copy and digital materials and provide recommendations to maintain these materials. As well, the assistant will make recommendations on which artefacts and specimens should be prioritized for new photographs based on the quality and stability of the current material.
