Who We Are: The Sensor Systems and Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Technology team is composed of engineers, scientists, and technicians who develop sensor systems and inspection methodologies and perform and monitor inspections to assess the serviceability of a variety of structures from deep sea to deep space. Objectives of this Role: Participate in inspection-related tasks in support of large-scale fabrication and maintenance efforts. Interface with inspectors, fabricators, and engineers working together to design, fabricate, and qualify major mechanical systems. Gain experience and hours in various NDT methods and techniques. This position is targeting individuals that are seeking a future career as a full-time NDT inspectors. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Support SwRI certified inspectors/examiners in their inspection activities Receive mentoring and shadowing opportunities in all aspects of nondestructive inspection. Conduct inspections under the direction of certified inspectors. Shadowing opportunities in inspection tasks in various methods, including ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, penetrant testing, eddy current testing, and radiographic testing. Requirements: Must be pursuing an Associates degree in Nondestructive testing or related degree field. 0 years: Pursuing certification as level I/II inspector per ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent Ability to work in a team.
