Join our community and experience Emerson College ! The Student Employment Counselor supports the coordination of student employment programs, offering guidance, resources, and support. This role helps students develop key job search skills, navigate the job market, and find employment that helps students in securing meaningful employment, enhancing their educational experience and preparing them for their future careers. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Process student employment paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance for hiring procedures Guide students through the job application process, including assistance with crafting resumes, submitting applications, and preparing for interviews Address inquiries from students and employers through multiple channels like phone, email, or direct interaction, ensuring responses are prompt and informative Assist in coordinating and planning the Student Employment Job Fair and support recruitment events such as "Picture Yourself at Emerson," job fairs, workshops, and networking events Maintain regular office hours to help answer inquiries from students and supervisors, available both in-person and online Regularly update the student employment website and handbook with current and relevant information Offer administrative assistance to the department which includes preparing documents, managing data entry, and executing general office tasks Process verification requests for student employment for assorted purposes Promptly respond to email inquiries in the student employment and financial aid inboxes, addressing questions and offering pertinent information Engage in ongoing training and meetings to remain updated on university employment policies and practices, enhancing the support provided to students Assist with visits to off-campus work sites to check on working conditions and with reviews of on-campus job sites QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job. Bachelor's Degree in a related field required 1-3 years' experience working in employment area such as Human Resources or Student Employment Understanding of Federal Work Study programs preferred Experience with Workday and/or Ellucian Banner preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job. Exemplary customer service, organizational, and analytical & problem-solving skills Attention to detail and Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; time management Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including ability to present to large groups Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Demonstrated leadership skills, including ability to build rapport across departments, motivate others, foster genuine and meaningful collaboration, and share knowledge effectively Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and successfully prioritize tasks PHYSICAL ABILITIES - Activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
