A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STEM TEACHER / Coordinator The STEM Teacher / Coordinator is a critical component of our school community's lifeblood. As a scientist, you inspire children to design, create, improve, and recreate their ideas. As an educator, you understand the power of failure and the necessity of innovation. As a peer, you will support your fellow educators as they implement STEM concepts in their classrooms. Backed by the National STEM Standards, y ou will use a project-based approach to patiently bring out the engineer in each student. Because y ou get great satisfaction out of helping students find their passion through the sciences, your classroom is always bustling with activity. The ideal candidate brings great experience, enthusiasm, creativity, and especially a love of collaboration. Some examples of past projects are Level Up Village, cardboard boat building, coding robots, skin-on wood frame boat building, makey-makey, proportional construction of everyday items, tiny house replicas, and a port project just to name a few. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A STEM TEACHER State certification for teaching science, STEM, mathematics or a degree is a related field. Experience in STEM education Knowledge about effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques and their applications to teaching STEM True passion for growing students' character and abilities Experience with both elementary and middle school students is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
