Met-Con, Inc., a rapidly growing structural steel fabrication and erection company, is seeking a full-time Steel Detailing Manager for our Cocoa, Florida location. Job Description: The Detailing Manger will be responsible for the production and performance of the detailing department. These responsibilities range from scheduling, personnel management and reviews, to customer relations. The Detailing Manager is responsible for all drafting aspects of contracts as well as coordination with estimators and project managers to produce structures of quality and integrity. Assist co-workers in providing accurate and informative shop drawings for approval, fabrication and erection. A successful candidate must have an understanding of the structure and relationships between Drafting, Purchasing, Fabrication and Estimating. General Requirements: Minimum 5 years' experience in detailing and checking structural steel, miscellaneous iron, and stairs and rails. Managerial or supervisory experience required Must have up to date SDS/2 experience. Must be familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Tekla and Autocad. Must be able to follow detailing standards. Produce shop drawings in accordance with A.I.S.C. standards and contract documents. Responsible for maintaining project schedules in regard to the submittal process. Responsible for providing shop drawings for fabrication in a timely fashion, as to not delay project schedule. Maintain a balanced workload in the department and provide feedback to the General Manager as required. Assist detailers with any questions and/or concerns regarding fabrication practices. Identify errors and ambiguities in contract drawings and specifications and resolve them with the customer prior to releasing shop drawings for fabrication. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment. Experience reading and comprehending blueprints/specifications. College courses in Architectural Design & Drafting is a plus, but not a requirement. Knowledge of stairs, rails and miscellaneous metals is preferred. Working knowledge of fabrication and erection procedures is preferred. Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required.
