Staff Accountant

Mainsail Property Management is looking for a staff accountant to join our team in our Tampa office. This person will manage all accounting procedures to ensure Mainsail’s overall financial health. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting, excellent attention to detail and deep knowledge of regional laws/regulations. Responsibilities : General Ledger Maintenance Record and maintain journal entries for various financial transactions. Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Accounts Payable and Receivable Review and approve accounts payable invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments. Assist with accounts receivable functions, including invoicing and collections. Expense Management Review and analyze expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies. Assist in controlling costs through monitoring and reporting. Bank Reconciliation Perform monthly bank reconciliations to verify accuracy of financial transactions. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Financial Reporting Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and reports. Assist in the preparation of financial analyses as needed. Audit Support Assist with internal and external audit processes. Prepare documentation and respond to audit inquiries. Compliance Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations. Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and industry best practices. Special Projects Collaborate on ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by the Finance Manager or Controller. Provide support for process improvements within the finance department. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate setting within the hospitality industry or a hotel accounting office. Strong math skills Deep knowledge of accounting principles and hotel accounting practices Excellent written and verbal communications Ability to handle information confidentially Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
