What you will do Role Overview: The Senior Development Civil Engineering Project Engineer is involved in all aspects of civil design for utility scale solar photovoltaic, battery energy storage, and wind projects. The role includes a wide variety of diverse assignments such as due diligence, sitings, feasibility studies, new technology evaluations, conceptual designs, and cost estimates. Main responsibilities: Assist with engineering quantity estimations and provide permitting support Maintain and improve existing scope of works, guidelines, specifications, schedule, and budget templates Oversee, guide, and manage the work of third-party consultants Conduct preliminary hydrology and hydraulic designs and calculations Provide comprehensive support for all departments in matters pertaining to Hydrology and Hydraulics Preliminary Grading Analysis/design using Civil 3D Ensure that the civil portion of the estimated balance of plant cost is optimized by providing accurate project layouts and major quantity takeoffs Participate in value-added engineering studies of alternative design approaches Additional duties as required Employment type Full Time Work site Hybrid- Houston, TX What are we looking for Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university 0-3 years of experience in civil site design Professional Engineering license is preferred, in any state, but not required Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products Proficient with HydroCAD, HEC-HMS or other similar hydrology modeling software Proficient in hydraulic design software (HEC-RAS, Flo2D, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, etc) Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D design and ArcGIS Knowledgeable with applicable industry standards and codes including Uniform Building Code (UBC), International Building Code (IBC), American Concrete Institute (ACI) Travel: Up to 15% Behavioral Requirements: Strong technical, analytical, and quantitative skills Demonstrated interpersonal skills Strong level of initiative and ability to work with limited supervision Strong organizational commitment and high attention to detail Strong leadership and time-management skills Demonstrated ability to provide support on multiple concurrent projects Ability to plan, schedule, track, and monitor project progress Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills Ability to work successfully with a team daily in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Ability and willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed Physical demands & working conditions: Sitting/Standing/Flexibility : Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching while on project sites; ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment Speech/Reading : Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form Lifting : Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form Safety : Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary Walking : Ability to walk several miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites Equal opportunities for all Our vision is that each person combines their unique characteristics and experiences to fulfill our mission of creating new energy for the planet.
