Through the comprehensive PowerFlex X platform, PowerFlex leverages patented smart software to control, monitor, and optimize a client's distributed energy resources to reduce cost and maximize return on investment.The Sr. Analyst - Performance Analytics will play a pivotal and strategic role in maximizing the value and performance of the behind-the-meter solar and storage assets managed by Powerflex. This entails meticulously monitoring operational projects, conducting in-depth performance analyses, and collaborating with the software team to optimize performance. The role demands a profound understanding of energy revenue streams, utility tariff structures, and adeptness in energy simulations and financial modeling to forecast and recommend strategies to senior leadership. Location This role is open to be 100% remote or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, San Diego, CA or New York, NY.) Responsibilities 40% - Monitor and manage operating projects at regular intervals to compare actual performance against expectations, diagnose problems (including review of optimization and controls code) and propose strategic guidance to management such as tariff changes or adjustments to algorithms and strategies. 15% - Monitor special market events such as Ontario Global Adjustment peak events and demand response calls to ensure projects are responsive. 10% - Produce monthly operating reports with in-depth metrics and analytics to evaluate and communicate results to investors and customers. 10% - Generate annual performance reports on operating assets, including performance guarantee calculations. 10% - Conduct market research to refine operating assumptions and forecasts and provide analysis to senior leadership. 5% - Provide continuous feedback to the software and product teams to improve product development and influence the product roadmap. 5% - Build improved tooling and processes to reduce the time and work necessary to recognize, diagnose and fix issues. 5% - Other ad-hoc duties as assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering, or related field required 9+ years’ experience focused on solar and energy storage projects, must include extensive experience with energy and/or financial modeling, revenue analysis and coding Proficiency in advanced monitoring tools, data analytics, and control systems including the ability to read and understand code. Ability to use REST APIs using platforms like Postman Ability to read and modify JSON configuration files Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, for data analysis and task automation Strong understanding of battery technologies, energy storage systems, and system integration. Proven experience in the domain of power electronics applied to renewable energy projects. Self-motivated with strong problem solving and analytical abilities. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously Ability to concisely communicate results verbally and through PowerPoint. Ability to co-manage personal workflow with the training and supervision of others. Compensation The pay range for this position is $102,500 - $171,000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position. Physical Requirements Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on the computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25 pounds regularly/occasionally.
