The Special Ed Teacher - Youth Residential Recovery will work collaboratively with the Youth Residential Recovery program treatment team and each of its client's home districts to ensure the coordination and academic success of YRR participants. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm position. Essential Duties: Coordinates with each client's identified home district/school to obtain assignments on client's school-based portal so that client can access assignments while in YRR treatment. Obtains necessary ROIs to communicate with client's home district/school to ensure academic records are obtained and maintained while client is in YRR treatment. Provide case management and support regarding educational/academic needs for client transition back into community. Plan, delegate, and ensure participation and completion of student information activities to include, but not be limited to: attendance at case conferences, IEP meetings, treatment team meetings, and discharge planning. Assist and provide instruction to YRR students with completion of assignments. Provides structure with predictable and fair limit setting while demonstrating appropriate boundaries. Supervise support staff in the classroom and enlist special skills as needed that are trauma-informed. Fulfill requirements for ongoing education (TTE/SEE) Responsible for working with youth who have a primary substance use disorder and may display emotional and behavioral issues resulting from trauma and neglect. These youth may, at times, display verbal or physical behaviors as a result of their experiences. Ability to promote a culture of high expectations, providing every client with high quality and culturally relevant instruction; create a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed environment that reflects and supports the racial and ethnic diversity of the youth population YRR serves. Update and maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development as required by school, district, state and federal policies, regulations and laws. Other Duties: Ensures Adverse Incident Reporting (AIR) procedures are followed during shift. Attends mandatory in-services, staff meetings, clinical supervision, and on-line training as required. Participates in supervision by coming prepared with an agenda. Reports high risk/problem cases using a problem-solving approach as well as feedback. Participates in and promotes a positive, supportive, cooperative team environment. Participates in staff development activities that enhance professional growth. Understand how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, so that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process and reduces the possibility of re-traumatization. Participates in the Center's training/educational programs designed to enhance knowledge about Trauma Informed Care, the impact of trauma and trauma recovery. Ensure that delivery practices are guided by the principles of trauma informed care and the principles of addiction treatment. Maintains effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, subordinates, upper management, visitors, and the public. Uses language and behavior to promote dignity and respect. Corporate Compliance including documentation on practice in accordance with regulatory requirements and clinical guidelines. Exhibits enthusiasm, respect, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment. Must be sensitive to the diverse cultural and situational needs of the patients. Willing to cover another shift or another team, as requested by Program Manager/Program Coordinator. Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required: Bachelor's degree (from an accredited University/College) in a related field (psychology, counseling, human services, or social work) required. Preferably one year of documented work experience in behavioral health, preferably in substance abuse treatment. Applicants hired without certification must obtain CAT or CAS within 18 months of hire. Applicants with pre-existing addiction certification preferred. Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Motor Vehicle Insurance Coverage requires applicant must be 25 years or older. Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving record as determine by our insurance carrier. An MVR will be pulled along with a background check. Must be able to pass a stringent background check that includes CBI, FBI, and TRAILS prior to hire. Must possess a valid Colorado State Teaching License with a Special Education Endorsement or subject area Secondary Education Endorsement with TEE in Special Education or working towards this in: Working with youth, (ages 13-18.5), with social and behavioral needs; Working with youth who have struggled with substance use disorders. Salary Grade 12 - $49,300 - $62,800* (Additional 10% salary differential provided for SUD Services) Additional Salary Information*: All salaries at Jefferson Center are calculated based on years of total relevant experience.* The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.* Additional pay provided for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.* Youth Residential Recovery Bonus $1,500 1 month anniversary$1,500 6 month anniversary$2,000 1 year anniversary($5,000 Total) Additional Bonus Information*: Based on full time (40 hours/week). Bonus will be prorated if less than 40 hours/week* Must work a minimum of 20 hours/week to be eligible for bonus* Current Jefferson Center employees not eligible for sign on bonus* Application deadline: 5/1/2024.
