The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time position of study psychiatrist who will extend patient care in research protocols at the Clinic for Aging, Anxiety, and Mood Disorders at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. This individual needs to be fluent in Spanish, and comfortable conversing/communicating with patients in both English and Spanish. Duties/Responsibilities: The study psychiatrist is responsible for the initial psychiatric evaluation and on-going care of patients for treatment studies of depression. Responsibilities include confirming eligibility criteria, conducting the consent process, medication management, evaluation of response and charting through electronic medical record. The treatment studies primarily include patients over 60 and every so often require contact with the primary care physician or specialists such as cardiologists to review medical status. The study psychiatrist is supported by a team of research assistants and clinic coordinators who manage appointments, research evaluations and data entry as well as a team of senior investigators who also take care of study patients. The individual who fills this role will be completing these responsibilities with both English and Spanish-speaking patients. Minimum Qualifications : Board eligible/Board certified. DEA license required. Fluency in English and Spanish necessary. Preferred Qualifications : Familiarity with antidepressant medications preferred.
