Sous Chef - Restaurant Location: WaikikiSalary: $55,000 - $70,000 a year Job Type: Full-timeShift and Schedule:● Extended hours● Weekends as needed● Evenings as neededBenefits:● Health insurance● Paid time offJob Description:POSITION SUMMARY:We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for excellence in culinary arts, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and possess a keen eye for detail. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food and service, and collaborating with the culinary team to maintain our standards of excellence.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:● Collaborate with the Executive Sous Chef to establish kitchen goals and implement strategies for success.● Provide leadership and guidance to kitchen staff during service hours.● Maintain quality, presentation, and consistency standards for all food items.● Assist with ordering, inventory management, and preparation as needed.● Address guest feedback promptly and implement corrective actions when necessary.● Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations.● Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork among staff members.● Perform related duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:● Valid Food Handler Certification or equivalent.● Experience in a leadership role within a culinary environment.● Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.● Proficiency in English language.● Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:● Two (2) years of experience in a similar position.● Certification of Culinary training or apprenticeship.● Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting processes.SKILLS/APTITUDES:● Strong guest service orientation.● Excellent communication skills.● Proficient in kitchen equipment operation and knife skills.● Ability to work effectively in a team environment.● Problem-solving abilities and self-motivation.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:● Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds.● Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required.WORK ENVIRONMENT:● Indoors, primarily in the kitchen area.● Exposure to heat, cold, and steam.● Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Experience Level: 2 yearsPay Rate: Yearly payShift: Day shift, Evening shift, Morning shiftSupplemental Pay Types: Bonus opportunitiesWeekly Day Range: Monday to Friday, Weekends as needed Work Setting: Casual dining restaurantWork Location: In person
