About the role This role presents a unique opportunity for an engineer who wants to solve problems in climate change that are affecting people right now. Our SREC aggregation software plays a vital role in the economics of the clean energy transition. We need a front-end engineer to lead the development of our customer-facing product. The role requires a passion for great UX, a discerning design aesthetic, and the skills to leverage the latest technology to deliver a world-class user experience—rapidly. To build out our front-end, you’ll be in a hybrid architecture comprising a modern API-based services backend and multiple low-code front-end platforms: primarily Bubble, but also Retool and others. You’ll write JavaScript to augment functionality not achievable with low-code tools. You’ll have a significant stake in our product itself, having a voice in the design and feature roadmap. You’ll be constantly improving our product and adding functionality weekly, often daily. You’ll be expected to occasionally work directly with users and partners to make our product better. You won’t be starting from scratch, but as the owner of the front-end, you’ll have the ability to architect and build as needs evolve. You’ll work closely all members of the team in a highly collaborative setting. This is a critical role in our growing business—it’s fun, fast, challenging, and the rewards roll in daily! We hope that you: Have a passion for UX and love making great looking stuff on the web Are confident with low-code tools and Javascript Are biased toward rapid prototyping to quickly iterate Thinks critically about when to accrue technical debt vs do it right Are curious and perpetually improving as an engineer and human Are undeterred by the demands of a fast-growing business A true team player who leaves ego at the door and loves winning together Bask in the delight of seeing it all work Qualifications: Bachelors degree Proficient in Javascript Experience with integrating API services 3 years building websites with significant UX requirements Exposure to developing mobile apps Location and Hybrid Work Sun Tribe’s HQ is in Charlottesville, VA on the historic downtown mall. Our team is based both in Charlottesville and Richmond, and we’re open to candidates within a few hours of Charlottesville. Ideally, you are local or willing to relocate to Charlottesville. Otherwise, you’d be expected to be in the office 3-4 days per week during the first 4-6 months for onboarding and at least weekly thereafter.
