RESPONSIBILITIES Perform integration and testing of components, systems and their interfaces to create operational services Provide initial implementation support and training to engineers as part of assurance of proper DB Infrastructure design execution Provide technical support for complex DB Infrastructure activation, deployment, and maintenance activities to internal and external customers Conceive technical designs regarding DB Infrastructure capacity, performance and risks Participate in the roll out of the DB Infrastructure architecture strategy communication to relevant stakeholders Participate in DB Infrastructure architecture strategy development by conducting technical evaluation of user requirements and business needs Plan DB Infrastructure changes and upgrades in line with the DB Infrastructure architecture Advise the business on DB Infrastructure operations and maintenance related issues Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues Forecast financial, physical, and human resource needs to meet established objectives Partner with stakeholders to define DB Infrastructure operations and maintenance requirements for new technology implementations Recommend process, product or service improvements, resource optimisation and cost savings Coordinate with internal support and operations groups and/or with third parties to identify, diagnose and rectify problems Document risks associated with deployment Perform planning, designs, management, execution and reporting of tests, using appropriate tools and techniques Analyse the DB Infrastructure performance, reliability and capacity levels against the design projections Develop automated processes to define, measure, and report on DB Infrastructure service quality, stability and capacity Develop DB Infrastructure monitoring architecture such as monitoring agents, dashboards, escalations and alerts Perform regular audits, DB Infrastructure testing and implementation Analyse enquiries to identify recurring user problems, recommend solutions, and to identify areas where service can be improved Develop problem solving guidelines, checklists, or materials to assist staff to respond to user problems Monitor response and resolution time on live incidents Oversee disaster recovery planning and testing Respond to more complex, escalated support or queries from team members Schedule activities to ensure continuity of service and prompt resolution of issues Control the prioritisation of requirements and allocation of staff, budget and timeline Coordinate complex and major implementation rectifications Organise, manage engineers and technical specialists to perform day-to-day activities for DB Infrastructure operations and implementation Update senior leaders on the status of implementation and expansions of the DB Infrastructure Define common goals, direction and accountability among staff Develop staff through ongoing coaching, mentoring and career discussions Drive effective performance management practices within the department in accordance with organisation policies and procedures Oversee team management including budgets, forecasting, work allocations and staffing Mentor and assign team members to projects Develop DB Infrastructure operations and maintenance project plans/SOPs Drive resource and cost optimisation across projects Guide engineers toward performing services on time, within budget and in accordance with business requirements Initiate plans to respond to request for more DB Infrastructure resources Maintain oversight of complex DB Infrastructure operations and maintenance projects end-to-end as required Monitor overall DB Infrastructure performance, capacity and resource utilisation Supervise the execution of day-to-day DB Infrastructure operations, installation and integration Update senior leaders on project status, resource optimisation and cost savings Assist senior leaders in project budgeting and cost REQUIREMENTS: Design, plan, support, and maintain DB Infrastructure build and operations to meet or exceed stipulated SLA. Monitor DB Infrastructure performance and resolution of technical problems. Lead, prioritize and manage a DB Infrastructure team to effectively provide implementation and operations support to projects to meet or exceed SLA. Identify and resolve highly complex system DB Infrastructure issues that may require establishment of new techniques, tools, and processes. Proactively analyse internal/external business challenges/regulatory issues and recommend improvements. Required to be on standby 24x7 on-site or on-call after office hours, weekends, and public holidays for operational or implementation projects. Savvy in troubleshooting complex problems. Resourceful in understanding issues or learning new skills. Possess good teamwork and able to provide clear instructions, guidance as well as knowledge sharing to the team
