Shipping Assistant (Contractor)

Job Type Contract Description This Shipping Assistant will provide support to the Shipping and Chartering team with various data entry and data management duties. The role is an essential part of the team accountable for back-office activities and ensuring the team is fully briefed on progress and frequently communicating with team members in other departments. The Shipping Assistant must have a strong sense of responsibility, team player, and be detail-oriented. Responsibilities: Manages all aspects of assigned demurrage claims. Record and process all claims received and issued per our internal accounting process. Prepare and communicate payment instruction documentation to the operations team for delivery to various counterparties and customers. Scan, send, and save the documents per company accounting and compliance process. Reports status of demurrage claims to operations and trading teams. Daily review and reconciliation of information in various systems and worksheets to ensure accuracy of transactions. Responsible for verification of approvals of contracts before uploading into the online system. Other duties as required. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Maritime, Finance or Economics or related field 0-3 years of previous settlements, claims, and/or demurrage experience a plus Experience working with counterparties preferred Bilingual Mandarin Chinese and English, specifically the ability to read and write is preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically expertise with Excel Ability to quickly learn the company's ERP Please note we will not sponsor, obtain, and/or petition for temporary visa status (for example, E, F-1, H-1, H-2, L, B, J, or TN) for candidates for this position and/or personnel hired for this position.
