About the Job: The Cutter/Sewer will report directly to the Lead Manager. The Cutter/Sewer will hand-cut orders as well as set up, adjust and operate equipment related to the cutting and sewing of fabric. RESPONSIBILITIES Organize, place & mark patterns on fabric based on fabric specification and product standards to obtain highest yield Decide on correct cutting method for the type of material Storing fabrics correctly and checking stock levels Cut fabric using scissors or power cutting tools, as marked in the layout process Gatther and tag cut pieces prior to being sewn Check for defects in fabric Maintain good housekeeping practice to prevent slips, trips and falls Able to read and understand measuring tape and or measuring rulers Marks cutting ines around pattern or template, or follows layout points, using square, rule, straightedge and chalk, pencil or scribe. Reads work order to determine dimensions, cutting locatons and quantity to cut Discuss complicatons or assembly line slowdowns with Lead Manager and brainstorm solutions for increased productivity Ensure products meet quality standards EXPERIENCE 3 years related experience and/or training EDUCATION High school education or equivalent is needed with proficiency in both verbal and written communication skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Able to perform repetitive tasks such as bend, lift, twist and reach for extended periods of time. Lift and lower fabric rolls from tabletop, cradle and floor level. Lift and carry up to 20 pounds Able to stand for long periods National Community Renaissance is an equal opportunity employer.
