Job Type: Full-Time Location: Remote - This position is fully remote but limited to applicants residing in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming. Responsibilities: Collaborate across teams to define server requirements and implement scalable solutions.Develop and maintain server-side features, systems, and tools to support gameplay mechanics, player interactions, and virtual economies within MMO games.Identify and address performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and network latency issues to provide smooth online experiences for players.Implement data storage solutions, including databases and caching mechanisms, to efficiently manage player data, world states, and in-game assets.Contribute to the security and integrity of the server architecture, implementing measures to prevent cheating, hacking, and unauthorized access.Debug and resolve server-related issues.Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to online gaming, server architectures, and multiplayer networking. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum of 3 years of professional experience working as a server engineer, preferably in the video game industry, with a strong focus on online multiplayer games.Strong proficiency in C++ or C programming and a solid understanding of software engineering principles.Solid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, and HTTP, and experience with designing and implementing multiplayer networking solutions.Previous experience working on MMO games or other large-scale online multiplayer projects, with a deep understanding of server performance optimization and load balancing.Familiarity with databases and data modeling, including experience with SQL and/or Redis databases.Knowledge of security best practices for online gaming, including anti-cheat mechanisms and data encryption.Experience with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, for deploying and managing online game server infrastructure.Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability to changing project requirements, and a collaborative mindset.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Nice to Have Experience with Docker Compensation: Salary Range: $90,000 - 130,000 per year. Exact base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
