Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to work on HS2? Im currently recruiting for a freelance SQS on a 12 month rolling contract. Key Responsibilities: Lead the quantity surveying function for HS2 in Birmingham, overseeing cost management, budget control, and contractual compliance. Manage the preparation and submission of accurate and timely cost estimates, bills of quantities, and cost reports. Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to identify and backss change requests, variations, and claims, and provide expert advice on their financial implications. Develop and implement strategies to manage change effectively, minimise cost overruns, and optimise project outcomes. Provide support and guidance to project teams on commercial and contractual matters, ensuring adherence to contract requirements and regulatory standards. Conduct risk backssments and develop mitigation plans to address potential cost and schedule impacts. Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve disputes and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Mentor and coach junior members of the quantity surveying team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. RICS accreditation preferred. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a minimum of 5 years experience in infrastructure or construction projects. Demonstrated expertise in cost management, contract administration, and change management. Strong analytical and problem: solving skills, with the ability to backss complex situations and develop practical solutions. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards governing quantity surveying and construction contracts. Experience using industry: standard quantity.
