Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Position Description Position Title: Senior Policy Analyst Department: Policy &Program development Reports to: Senior Director of Policy Position(s) Supervised: N/A FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary The Senior Policy Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and communicating policy information to WEDC staff and the public in order to achieve policy objectives, cross-functional project goals, and organizational strategic initiatives. In support of these duties, the Senior Policy Analyst conducts research and develops options for business, industry, and community development by analyzing state and federal public policy, and relevant enterprise information. The Senior Policy Analyst also serves as a subject matter expert by providing guidance on policy and industry reports, trends, and strategic investments to enable WEDC's vision of an Economy for All.___________________________________________________________________________________________ Responsibilities The Senior Policy Analyst will spend a majority of their time in these activities: Manage the drafting of policy and fiscal analyses of state economic development-related legislation and initiatives in Wisconsin. Conduct analysis of state laws, regulations, programs, and policies to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and trends for economic development in Wisconsin. Assist the development of state policy issues and recommendations for WEDC biennial and budget adjustment requests. Support the co-chairs of the Strategic Investment Steering Committee through collaboration with the Research and Evaluation team and other WEDC divisions. Guide annual program reviews for each of WEDC's divisions. Assist with outreach to partners and stakeholders to solicit input on programs, policies, and trends. Develop policy products and tools based upon industry and enterprise data to provide WEDC staff and partners with information for decision-making. Provide current policy-related information and data to WEDC staff for use in press releases, media responses, and other public communications. Support cross-functional efforts in the compilation, review, and publication of WEDC policy snapshots and profiles. Attend meetings, conferences and other events for professional networking and development purposes. Prepare oral and written reports on research results for a range of outlets and audiences. Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts. Other duties as assigned. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Education and Experience: At least five years of experience in policy, economics, statistics, public administration, or related field. Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Economics, Business, Public Administration or related fields or comparable education/experience/training. Experience in legislative or policy analysis, state budget development, or program development/management is preferred. Skills and Talents: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong project management and organizational skills; attention to detail. Research, writing, and communication skills required. Possesses a high level of knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations, rules, policies and procedures. PC applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database management and Windows software. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Other Requirements: Some state-wide travel may occur, 10%-20% of the time. Travel is anticipated to include day and overnight travel.
