Job Summary The Senior Manager of Safety and Transportation oversees all aspects of safety within our organization with a focus on transportation/route safety and compliance. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to safeguard our employees, customers, and assets. This position is also responsible for managing transportation logistics to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures for all transportation activities, including vehicle operations, loading and unloading procedures, and driver behavior. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of transportation facilities, equipment, and vehicles to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Provide safety training and education to transportation staff, emphasizing best practices and regulatory compliance. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to transportation safety. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Compliance, and Human Resources, to ensure alignment and consistency in safety initiatives. Oversee the maintenance and repair of transportation vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Monitor and analyze transportation metrics, such as accident rates, fuel consumption, and delivery times, to identify areas for improvement. Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and external partners on transportation safety matters. Oversee fleet operations, from purchasing, maintenance, insurance and other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in safety and distribution. Minimum 10 years of experience in a safety, transportation, or similar regulatory field. In-depth knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other regulations. Effective leadership abilities with the capacity to deliver results through direct reports and colleagues alike. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer and software applications. Certification in transportation safety (e.g., Certified Transportation Safety Professional) is a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Ability to climb routinely.
