Purpose Reporting to the VP, Associate General Counsel, the Senior Legal Counsel, Technology and Strategic Sourcing provides sophisticated advice on a broad range of third-party risk management activities, technology contracting, outsourcing and corporate law matters for the Bank. The ideal candidate will be versatile, flexible and collaborative with strong analytical, written and oral communication skills and excellent judgement. The ability to give pragmatic advice, review, negotiate and draft commercial and other agreements, create precedents, processes and systems and occasionally instruct outside counsel, multi-task and take on new challenges will be essential to succeed in this role. Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: Support various client groups within the Bank and represent the Legal Department on a variety of matters including third-party risk management and contractual arrangements (including precedents, knowledge management activities and regulatory submissions, among others), including the Bank’s living will/resolution plan. Give pragmatic advice, review, negotiate and draft commercial and other agreements, create precedents, processes and systems and occasionally instruct outside counsel, multi-task and take on new challenges will be essential to succeed in this role. Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of the respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with.
