About Opportunity By sharing insights and intelligence, developing and promoting best practices, and fostering collaboration, Polaris's Strategic Initiative on Financial Services equips the global financial sector to disrupt human trafficking - decreasing the profitability and increasing the risk of human trafficking. The Senior Financial Intelligence Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert on conducting financial crimes investigations and identifying patterns and trends associated with the financial footprint of human traffickers. This individual must have expertise in using publicly available information to conduct financial crimes investigations and be able to lead collaborative efforts with technical experts within law enforcement and financial institutions to develop more effective AML processes.This is a full-time term appointment through December 2021 with the possibility for extension. Responsibilities Develop and implement innovative and collaborative research projects with partners within financial institutions, government agencies, and non-government organizations; Serve as a subject matter expert on financial crimes investigations providing training and consultation within Polaris and to external stakeholders; Manage Polaris's research and analysis using publicly available information to understand the financial footprint and business relationships of human traffickers; Directly supervise and train other analytical staff and contractors as needed; Synthesize findings into written products for the anti-money laundering (AML) and financial crimes communities; Independently manage, develop, and refine data collection and analytical tools and systems; and Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Required Qualifications Minimum of five years of professional experience in forensic accounting, financial crimes investigations, and/or anti-money laundering; Strong familiarity with publicly available data sources relevant to human trafficking and financial crimes investigations; Creative thinker with proven ability to innovate within resource limitations and excellent problem-solving skills; Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information; Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences including stakeholders within financial institutions, data and technology companies, government agencies, law enforcement, and non-governmental organizations; and Proven ability to deliver results, a natural self-starter who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience working within AML systems and identifying financial indicators of human trafficking; Experience with network mapping; Experience developing rules-based monitoring of financial transactions for suspicious activity; Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Financial Crimes Specialist (CFCS) certification. Working Conditions: Typical office setting. Physical Requirements: Prolonged sitting, chiefly at a computer terminal; Occasional bending, stooping, and stretching; Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment; Requires occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
